Career and Education Advice with Focus on Waqf-e-Nau Mentorship [Committee #6]

Goal:

To motivate more Waqfeen-e-Nau to pursue medicine as part of their fulfillment of their Waqf Commitment

How:

1. Career advice for students in their training and education with a focus on Waqf-e-nau

2. Medical experiences for Waqf-e-nau students with Waqf-e-Arzi

3. Enable networking with AMMA Waqf-e-nau/Waqf-e-Arzi

4. Strengthen presence in Jamaat with Waqf-e-nau students as targeted audience

Metrics:

  • Continue representation at the Career Expo for Waqfenau
  • Coordinate webinars to further guide Waqfenau and Waqfe zindagi members in their medical pursuits
  • One Waqf-e-nau focused Waqf-e-Arzi Trip to a Jamaat Hospital

Resources:

Roster of AMMA members who are Waqf-e-Nau, who are doing Waqf-e-Arzi, and who are willing to assist with observerships/externships.

Results:

✓October 14th: Residency Interview Webinar with 97 attendees
✓October 29th: Residency Mock Interviews with 9 applicants helped. 2 additional applicants helped individually 
✓December 2nd: Residency Mock Interviews Round 2 with 7 applicants
✓Waqf-e-nau Career Expo January 20 & 21st: AMMA representation at 9 sessions (physicians, pharmacists, nurses, dentists) virtually and at Masroor Mosque in VA. ~53 attendees at women’s session, ~89 attendees at men’s session
✓ Next up: Organize a Waqf-e-Arzi Trip to a Jamaat Hospital
